Development of technology of road and industrial site construction on permafrost and marshy grounds using thermal pipes

The head of the project:

V.A Derevyanko, candidate of physical and mathematical sciences.

Description

The project is directed on development of technology of road and industrial site construction on permafrost and marshy grounds using artificial freezing of ground. The point of the offered project is to freeze artificially using the features of the northern climate within winter the ground on a road on the large depth, having supplied creation of artificial permafrost which serve as the base of the road. The thermal pipes of a diode type up to 15 meters longwise with the large thermal capacity are used for freezing the ground. They work in an independent mode, do not consume energy and do not require constant service. To prevent thawing of the ground in spring the road is heat-insulated with the help of dense foam plastic such as «Stiropore». A concrete layer of 10 sm thick with reinforcement of metal grid is stacked over foam plastic and bitumen covering is put. In this case the ground fill can be necessary to layout the road and to raise its level above locality. After this procedure the road is ready for exploitation. Previously carried out calculations have shown that the thermal pipes are capable to support necessary volume of the frozen ground within seasonal fluctuations of temperature.
